Understanding Collaborative Learning

What can we say about Collaborative Learnig ? It has the purpose of achieving an academic goal in which learners work together in small groups toward a common objective, to solve a problem, or even create something.

Students learns best when they are actively involved in the process.It is proved that students working in small groups tend to learn more of what is taught and retain more than when the same content is presented in other formats. By this, learners have the opportunity to present and defend ideas, question their colleagues, It is an exchange of ideas end befiefs.

But what are the benefits of collaborative working ?
"Recent research suggests learning is fundamentally influenced by the context and activity in which it is embedded (Brown, Collins and Duguid, 1989)". This learning technique creates an atmosphere that helps the students in many ways, besides improve their understanding of subjects explored: by discussing concepts they learn to deal with conflict; as they work together, it promotes the students' social skills; or help them with the development with oral communication, for example. It develops higher level thinking, oral communication, and social interaction skills as they discuss about the subject; encourages student responsibility of learning as they besides learning, they also teach, stablishing an atmosphere of cooperation;

You have to pay a little more attention about the structure, a good essay should have at least 5 paragraphs, the first with your thesis statement, them you should select at least three topic sentences and in the corpus you have to develop them. And finally the conclusion, nevertheless seems that you know something about collaborative work, I suggest that you try to improve the structure and develop the ideas that you already wrote
